Apparently every year there are common flaws that HDTVs exhibit. For example, back in the early days HDTVs didn’t deinterlace signals correctly, then there was actual 1080-to-1080 mapping problems, then motion blurring and so on.

Although every year that goes by those general problems get fixed and get better and new problems are found. According to Engadget it seems the new problem that sets are having are incredibly losses of quality during fast motion (like a camera panning across a football field).

Plasmas, as usual, fare the best with a 18% loss of quality, DLPs/Microdisplays followup with 22% and LCDs gag and choke loosing an astounding 44% of image quality during fast motion scenes.

So for the folks out there looking at their Pioneer or Panasonic plasmas, have confidence in knowing you are getting a good set.
